This is how long sex should actually last – and it's not as long as you think
WARNING: this is quite NSFW
Unless you practise Kama Sutra, or are a mythical sex god, five hours would almost certainly be a little too long to spend having intercourse. You'd miss your dinner reservation, for example. Or would be rather tired for work in the morning.
'Sex guru' Tracey Cox has some tips. She's been offering advice on everything from the male obsession of naming their penis to "getting dizzy" after orgasms. With 50 Shades Darker happening, and Valentine's Day imminent, sex is on everyone's minds.
One piece of expertise Tracey talks about is length – the length of time sex should last. Now sure, this is completely subjective, but it might help to know a ballpark figure.
There's a perception that women crave longer sex. And we all know that for some men, it's all over a little quickly ( two minutes is a number bandied around readily). But while some women enjoy uninterrupted, prolonged sex, apparently the majority really don't.
According to Tracey, the natural lubrication women enjoy doesn't last for ever, and going for too long might prove painful. Especially if the intercourse is in one position.
Studies suggest that the more preferred times for sex, on average, are between five and 13 minutes. Some might like a slightly longer duration, but these times really are the most common.
You'll make dinner after all.
