ISRO to launch 104 satellite; Plans to visit Venus and revisit Mars by 2022
As the world has entered a
renewed arena of space technology and exploration, ISRO i.e. Indian
space research organisation has marked a yet another milestone in its
quest for expanding the existing knowledge base about the interplanetary
space between venus and mars.
After the huge success of its first unmanned mission to the red
planet called the Mangalyan, ISRO has been planning on exploring the two
neighbourhood planets Mars and Venus for some time now. Both the
planets have shown promise in the direction of enhancing the knowledge
about our solar system as well as a viable option for future
colonisation and sustenance of life on them.
ISRO has been making ripples in the international space exploration
community for quite some time now as it is going to attempt the launch
of 104 odd satellites in a single space mission on 15
th
February 2017. Not only no other country has ever attempted such a
challenge, but as per reports if successful, ISRO would be the first
body that achieves this remarkable feat. It is worth noting that 101 of
those satellites belong to other nations and only three of them belong
to India and are being launched using the PSLV (Polar Satellite launch
vehicle). Some of the countries who would be launching their satellites
in the polar orbit through this mission include Israel, Netherlands,
Switzerland, UAE, Kazakhstan and the USA. The US alone accounts for
about 96 of the satellites about to be launched.
Earlier this month, the budget for the space exploration has been
increased by the incumbent government in a bid towards making larger
strides in this direction. The second Mars mission is scheduled for
2021-22. The mission to Venus is likely to be collaborated by the French
space agency. The maiden mission to Venus is likely to be an orbiter
mission like the Mangalyaan mission before.
